Creating Tags

New Tag Groups


Before creating a new tag, you need to create a custom tag group to classify and manage the newly custom tag.

  1. In the left navigation bar of the Data Catalog, click Tag Management.

Under the left side of the Data Asset Explorer page, find the Creation Guide, and then click Create Tag to go to the Tag Management function homepage.

  1. In the tag group list on the left side of the Tag Management function homepage, click New Group add_tag_group_icon on the upper right to create a new group.

  2. On the Create Tag Group page, enter the following information:

    • Tag Group ID: enter the tag group ID, which must be unique in the current OU

    • Group Name: enter the tag group name

    • Description: enter a tag group description

  3. Click Confirm to create the tag group.

Viewing Tag Groups


Once the new tag group is created, it will appear in the tag group list on the left side of the Tag Management function homepage.

After you select a group, you can view the tag group’s name, ID, and description under the Basic Information header, and you can view the tags in the tag group under the Tag List header.

Editing Tag Groups


  1. In the tag rule task list on the Tag Management function homepage, you can edit tag groups. Click the ellipsis icon more_icon at the end of the row of the tag group to be edited.

  2. Click Edit Group to make the tag group editing window pop up.

  3. On the tag rule editing page, you can edit the tag group name and description.

  4. Click OK to complete tag group editing.

Deleting Tag Groups


Note

Only deleting empty tag groups is supported. Therefore, before deleting a tag group, you need to manually delete the tag in the tag group.

  1. In the tag rule task list on the Tag Management function homepage, you can edit tag groups. Click the ellipsis icon more_icon at the end of the row of the tag group to be edited.

  2. Click Deletep to delete the tag group.

New Tag


  1. On the Tag Management function homepage, selecting a custom tag group means that a tag will be created under this group.

  2. Click New/Import Tag > New Tag.

  3. On the New Tag page, enter the following information:

    • Tag ID: enter the tag ID, which must be unique in the current OU

    • Name: enter the tag name

    • Description: enter the tag description

    • Extra Attributes: Extra attributes are used to describe additional information about the tag, which can be regarded as a supplement to the Description Click Add Attributes to add additional attributes to the tag by entering the following information (up to 50 items can be added):

      • Name: enter the name of the additional attribute of the tag as the attribute key.

      • Value: enter the value of the additional attribute of the tag as the attribute value.

    • Tag Attribute: After adding tag attributes, the search data will support tag attribute filtering Click Add Attributes and add attributes to the tag by entering or selecting the following information (up to 50 items can be added):

      • Name: enter the name of the tag attribute

      • Type: choose a type of tag attribute

  4. Click Confirm to complete tag creation.

Once a tag is created, on the Tag Management function homepage, select a tag group to view the ID, name, and other information of the new tag under the Tag List header.

Viewing Tags


On the Tag Management feature homepage, select a tag group and click a specific tag ID in the Tag List to go to the tag details page and view detailed information about the tag.

  • Basic Information: In this tab, you can view basic information about the tag, including information such as the tag ID, name, and attributes.

  • Associated Objects: In this tab, you can view the information of data objects associated with the tag, including object ID, name, and object type. Click a specific object ID to go to the object details page to view its detailed information.

  • Audit: In this tab, you can view the tag’s audit information, including audit users, user types, operations, and other information.

Editing Tags


  1. On the Tag Management feature homepage, select a custom tag group, and then under the Tag List header, click Edit edit_icon at the end of a tag row to go to its editing page.

  2. On the tag editing page, you can edit the tag name and attributes.

  3. Click OK to complete tag editing.

Deleting Tags


  1. On the Tag Management feature homepage, select a custom tag group, and then under the Tag List header, click Delete delete_icon to delete the tag.

  2. Click OK to delete the tag.

Using Tags to Search for Objects

The Data Catalog service allows using tags as search criteria to search for all data objects associated with a tag.

  1. On the Tag Management feature homepage, select a custom tag group, and then under the Tag List header, click the ellipsis icon more_icon at the end of the tag row to search for related objects.

  2. Click Search Objects as Filter to go to the Data Asset Explorer feature homepage. The tag will automatically be set as the tag filter condition.

    Note

    The Data Asset Explorer function homepage defaults to searching by the Metadata and Data Source data types. Users can alter the data type as needed.

  3. On the Data Asset Explorer function homepage, you can view the object information associated with the tag.
