Unit 4: Onboarding Assets

Asset onboarding is a critical step in building applications. Only after the assets are successfully connected to EnOS Cloud can the application collect, store, process, and visually display asset data.

Before You Start

Asset administrators need to be assigned the required permissions. If not assigned, contact the application administrator.

Note

If you encounter any issues during asset onboarding, see Onboarding Tool Troubleshooting and FAQ topics for solutions.

Asset onboarding consists of five processes, and you can assign different roles to each process to ensure the safe and orderly advancement of onboarding. This task assumes that all processes are completed by yourself.

Procedure

  1. Log in to EnOS Application Portal, and select Onboarding Tool in the application list.

  2. Select Onboarding Process in the left navigation bar.

  3. The page shows the 5 processes of site onboarding. Click Edit btn_edit_blue in the upper right corner of each process in turn, and add your role in the pop-up window.

Once the configuration is completed, you have access to all processes of site onboarding.

EnOS Application Portal

You can onboard assets by creating a new site, which consists of 5 processes: Configure Site, Configure Devices, Build Topology, Configure Connection, and Map Points. For applications without real asset onboarding, such as those used for testing or demonstration, the last two processes can be skipped.

Procedure

Follow the steps below to creating a site, configure devices, and build topologies. For more information, see Site Onboarding.

Creating a Site

  1. Select Site Onboarding in the left navigation bar of Onboarding Tool.

  2. At the top of the page, select a site type tab and click New Site.

Configuring the Site

  1. Fill in the site information as required on the Configure Site page.

  2. Click Save in the lower right corner to complete the site configuration.

Wait for the “Created successfully” message appearing at the top of the page, and click Next in the bottom right corner to move to the Configure Devices process.

Configuring Devices

  1. In the Device/Component tab on the Configure Devices page, click New Device/Component.

  2. In the pop-up window, click on the type of device you want to create, fill in the required information and click Submit.

  3. Fill in the device information as required on the Details page and click Save. Wait for the “Created successfully” message appearing at the top of the page. The device is displayed on the Configure Devices page after refreshing.

  4. Select the Group tab and click New group.

  5. In the pop-up window, select the type of group you want to create and click Submit.

  6. Enter the configuration information on the Details page and click Save. Wait for the “Created successfully” message appearing at the top of the page. The group is displayed on the Configure Devices page after refreshing.

Click Next in the bottom right corner to move to the Build Topology process.

Building Topologies

  1. The topology navigation on the left side of the Build Topology page shows the topology rules available for the OU. Click the target topology rule.

  2. The topology canvas in the middle of the page displays the top-level node of the topology rule. Hover over the top-level node and click Add Child Node btn_add_node. Configure the required information in the pop-up window and click OK.

  3. Continue adding other child nodes to complete the creation of the entire topology.

To use the EnOS Edge gateways to onboard physical devices, continue the Configure Connections and Map Points processes. For test or demonstration applications without physical devices, click Next in the bottom right corner to skip the Configure Connections and Map Points processes.

Submitting the Site

Click Submit in the bottom right corner of the page to complete the asset onboarding.

Results

When the asset onboarding is completed, the Site Onboarding page displays the created site as “Released”.
