Creating Registration Groups¶
After creating a master data group, you can proceed to create a registration group. This section shows the steps to create a registration group.
Prerequisites¶
Ensure that you have registered a personal or business account with EnOS to access the EnOS Management Console.
Ensure the account has all the access for Asset and Model, and full access for Device Management Service. For more information, see Policies, Roles, and Permissions.
Ensure that your OU has purchased the Device Provisioning Service application.
Ensure that you have created a master data group. For more information, see Creating and Managing Master Data Groups.
Procedure¶
Select Device Provisioning Service > Registration Group Management from the left navigation pane.
Click New Registration Group.
Fill in the information for Basic Information section.
Registration Group Name: Enter a name for the registration group. You can click Internationalization to enter customized names for different locales. 1 - 64 characters.
Master Data Group: Select a master data group from the list.
Reprovision Method: Select a reprovision method.
Reprovision and migrate configuration information: When a device reprovisioning request comes in, the device allocation status will be set to Not Allocated, its environment and OU information will be cleared, its master data will be retained, and the device will be deleted in the current OU.
Reprovision and initialize configuration information: When a device reprovisioning request comes in, the device allocation status will be set to Not Allocated, its environment, OU, and master data information will be cleared, and the device will be deleted in the current OU.
Do not support reprovisioning: Does not allow reprovisioning for the device.
Description: Enter a description for the master data. You can click Internationalization to enter customized description for different locales. Max 512 characters.
Fill in the information for Gateway Information section.
Gateway: Select the gateway for the onboarded devices to be directed to. Currently only IoT Hub is available.
Model Type: Select a model type.
Public: Only devices that belong to public models support reprovisioning.
Model: Select a public model from the list.
Private: Devices under private models does not support reprovisioning to another environment/OU as private models do not exist in other environments/OUs.
OU to Allocate: First select an environment to allocate the device to. Next select the OU from the list of OUs under the selected environment.
Model: Select a private model from the list.
Data Parsing Format
JSON: EnOS built-in standard data format.
Custom: Custom data script upload via Data Parsing is required.
Fill in the information for Connection Information.
OU Allocation Method: Click Add to add the method(s) to allocate a device. This is only available if Public is selected for Model Type. The order of priority is from bottom to top.
Device’s first connection: Select the Time Range of the device’s first successful connection to EnOS, then select an Environment to allocate the device to and select an OU from the list of OUs under the selected environment, and click Confirm.
Master data reported by device: Select the master data and the value to be reported by the device, then select an environment to allocate the device to and select an OU from the list of OUs under the selected environment, and click Confirm.
The added allocation method will appear in the list of OU Allocation Method. You can enable/disable and delete each method as well as arrange their order of priority.
Auto Device Allocation: If enabled, the system will automatically allocate the device according to the information filled in above. If disabled, you need to manually allocate for the devices after registering them.
Click Save.
The created registration group will appear in the list of registration groups in the Registration Group Management page.
Note
Devices will be allocated to the environment/OU as per specified in the registration group they are registered under. If an environment/OU is specified for a device during device registration, the device will be allocated there instead, i.e., if 3 devices, Device A
, Device B
, and Device C
, are registered under a registration group with the environment/OU as PPE/OU1
, and BETA/OU2
is specified for Device C
during device registration, Device A
and Device B
will be allocated to PPE/OU1
while Device C
will be allocated to BETA/OU2
