Configuring OU Business Objects

Business Objects contain the site types, device types, custom types, component types, and manufacturer model numbers of such devices and components that are necessary for asset onboarding and display.

Prerequisites

Ensure that the desired business object has been associated to a public model at the global layer and assigned to the current onboarding template. Contact the system administrator if necessary.

Associating a Model for Business Objects

Based on the public model associated with the business object, you can associate the public son model or private model for the business object within the OU as needed. For model definition, see Model.

Note

The Modelling Rules of the current OU determines the scope of models that can be associated with the business object. Onboarding Tool will also automatically create private models based on the modelling rules, and associate them to the business object. For more information, see Onboarding Assets Using Private Models.

  1. Select Business Object from the left navigation pane.

  2. Select the desired tab in the business object list.

    • Site/Device/Component/Custom Type: select an model name or - - from the associate model column.

    • Manufacturer: select View Details btn_details corresponding to the manufacturer to open the model No. page.

      • Global: models created at the global layer. Selecting - - from the associate model column corresponding to the desired model will associate a model for the global model in the current OU. Associate models take effect only within the current OU.

      • OU Customize: models of the current OU customization. Selecting - - from the associate model column corresponding to the desired model will associate a model for the current OU model number.

  3. Select a public son model or private model in the popup window.

    • Site Type & Custom Type: the same associate model is used when onboarding sites and custom type assets in the Onboarding Tool. The associate model will affect the Display Fields of the business object.

    • Device Type & Component Type: the associate model only affects the display field group, and does not affect the model used when onboarding assets in Onboarding Tool.

    • Manufacturer: models associated with the model under manufacturer will be used when onboarding the device/component of the corresponding model in Onboarding Tool. If the public model of a model equals to or is inherited from the public model of a device or component type, you can select this model and onboard assets using its associated model when connecting this type of device or component in Onboarding Tool.

All business objects created and associated with the corresponding model can be used during asset onboarding, so that assets at different levels can be connected to the application quickly and efficiently.

Configuring Private Icons

Application creators can customize the icons of business objects displayed in the applications of the current OU by the following steps:

  1. Select Business Object from the left navigation pane.

  2. In the business object list, select the Icon button of a business object.
